Dry skin is a common complaint during the cold months.
It is uncomfortable and irritating.
Eczema is another skin condition that’s linked to having an allergic reaction, and can be exacerbated by heat, cold, dryness, wetness or harsh wind (conditions of extremes) we put our bodies through.
Moisturizing the skin is vital in the winter months.
There is a lot of research out now showing that our diet can be changed to improve this condition. Avoiding gluten, (wheat etc.) processed foods, fast foods and sugar can be very helpful. In our house, we use essential oils. Oils like lavender, melaleuca and even frankincense are great to ease the discomfort of eczema.
It is a great idea to start consuming some natural pro and prebiotics: Kefir, Kombucha, Sauerkraut, Kim Chi etc. Proper gut health is key for our skin.
